Brief explanation about Mognet:
When talking to the Mog in different places, you can initiate a letter sending event through "Mognet". By sending mails to people in the game and people in reality, you can unlock hidden components including extra dungeon, optional boss, final equipment for each class, and job class Onion Knight. You probably know how to send mails to people in the game, the following two paragraphs talk about how to communicate with real players.
Wire-less communication:
One of the simpler ways is find a friend with a DS and a FF3 game and do a face-to-face wire-less transfer. Just write some stuff and send it over. Wire-less communication does not require "friend code", the DS will communicate automatically.
Wi-fi communication:
1. Locate your own friend code by choosing the forth option with the Mog, it's a 12 digit code.
2. Give that code to your friend, ask him/her to register it; and ask for his/her code
3. Enter your friend's code into your address book
4. If both of you have each other code in the address book, and both of you have Wi-fi access, the name would appear to be white (instead of grey)
5. Now you can send mail to that person
How the events go?
1. Send 1 letter to each character in the game and wait for the first reply from each of them
2. Send or receive 1st REAL FRIEND letter
3. Send 2nd letters to each character in the game and wait for their second reply
4. Send or receive 3rd REAL FRIEND letter
5. Send 3rd letters to each character in the game and wait for their third reply
6. Send or receive 7th REAL FRIEND letter
7. Send 4th letters to each character in the game and wait for their forth reply
- Alus' 4th reply will not come before you get the 4th reply from the four old men
- Taka's 5th reply will not come before you send the 5th letter to him
- Cid's 3rd reply will not come before you handed him the item "gear of time"
- Cid's 4th reply will not come before you get the 4th reply from Sara and 5th reply from Taka
Why Can't I Send Mail?
There is a one-hour per mail limit for sending mail. If you can't wait, try changing your DS internal clock for a time swap.
Unlockables
- Topapa's letter 4 unlocks Onion Knight. Meet with Topapa, go to the Cave of Altar, defeat the monsters.
- Alus' letter 4 unlocks hidden dungeon and Iron Giant. It's at the east of the floating island, looks like a coral reef. Tons of dragons, good for Onion Equipment hunt.
- After the 4th letter from Sara, go see her and take the quest of fixing her accessory. Meet with Taka and he'd say there's no way to fix it. After 4th letter from Taka, you can meet with a female weaponsmith in NE part of Saronia. She'd fix it and you can return that to Sara. Then send 5th letter to Taka. From this point and on the female weaponsmith would appear randomly and would give you final class-specific weapon if any of the characters level the job proficiency to 99.
- After getting 4th letter from Cid, go to his house's basement and beat the monster. Get a metal and then talk to Cid. He'd identify that it's a piece of Orichalcon. Take that metal to the village of Dark Knight, exchange for Ultima Weapon at the river next to the weapon shop.
